After Treatment Instructions

EXTRACTIONS:
  • Continue to bite on gauze for 1 hour following extraction
  • Remove gauze and take 3 Advil and 2 Extra-strength Tylenol
  • Replace with a new gauze and bite for another hour
  • The day after the extraction begin rinsing with warm salt water 10 times a day for 5 days


ROOT CANALS:

  • Take 3 Advil and 2 Extra-strength Tylenol every 6 hours as needed for up to 48 hours
  • Tooth may continue to be sensitive for up to 48 hours. It needs time to heal.


IMPLANTS:

  • In case of discomfort take 3 Advil and 2 Extra-strength Tylenol every 6 hours for 24 hours
  • Rinse with warm salt water for the first 24 hours


GUM TREATMENT:

  • Brush and floss gently for first 24 hours
  • Rinse with warm salt water twice a day for one week
  • In case of discomfort take 3 Advil and 2 Extra-strength Tylenol once


TEMPORARY CROWNS AND/OR BRIDGES :

  • Do not floss around temporary crown but brush normally
  • Do not chew on temporary crown but on other side of your mouth


NEW DENTURES AND/OR PARTIALS:

  • Wear for first 24 hours without removing
  • If you notice a sore spot or discomfort, call the office. It will not go away on its own!


NEW CROWNS (CERECS) AND/OR BRIDGES:

  • Do not chew on them for the first 24 hours
  • Brush and floss normally
  • If your bite feels uneven or uncomfortable, call the office. It will not go away on its own and often requires only a minor adjustment.
